Since its inception in 1971, The Daleville High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) "Warhawk Battalion", has earned the title of Honor Unit with Distinction over 90% of that time. The battalion teaches the fundamentals of leadership, producing highly motivated, dedicated, and intelligent individuals into our fast paced world.

Critical to bringing all of these skills together are our special teams. The Daleville High School JROTC program places emphasis on Armed Drill Team, Unarmed Drill Team, Color Guard, Physical Training Team and Rifle Team. These teams have demonstrated success and are known throughout the Wiregrass and Nation for their hard work and excellence in what they do.

The Rifle Team, one of the many talented organizations within the Battalion, has won numerous awards including 38 State Championships, two Army JROTC National Championships, and have placed in the top three

spots for several other nationally recognized competitions. They have attended the Western Region Championships (National Semi-Finals) at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The Warhawks have won the Wiregrass Rifle Conference Championship, the AUSA competition, War Eagle competition and Wiregrass Cup multiple times. We are active participants in the MidwayUSA Foundation Scholastic Shooting Trust Fund.

In 2011 and 2012, the rifle team won the Army JROTC Service Championships and took first place in the Southeastern U.S.A. in 2014 and 2015.  In 2014, they placed 3rd the Junior Olympic National Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio and set five NRA national records.  In 2015, the team broke the NRA 3-position team record set by Daleville AL JROTC in 2011.  We are active participants in the MidwayUSA Foundation Scholastic Shooting Trust Fund.

The Physical Training Team (P.T. Team) consistsof a group of individuals who train regularly to excel at push-ups, sit-ups, and running. They won 3rd place in the AUSA competition in 2005, and became the AUSA champions in 2006 and 2007. They also took 3rd place in the War Eagle competition those same years.  The PT Team won first place in the Army National Guard Challenge in 2015.

The team is featured at all home football games by pumping up the crowd as they do push-ups in the end zone each time the Warhawks score. The PT Team practices before and after school every other day recently began participating in 5K fun runs locally.  In the 2014-15 school year, the PT Team has expanded to include Raider Team events.

The Drill Team, a unit that focuses on regulation drill, both with and without arms, won 3rd place in the 2007 AUSA competition, and 1st place at the 2006 War Eagle competition. The Drill team brought home 1st place five times from the annual National Guard Challenge, most recently in 2015. The Warhawk Battalion continues to be a forceful presence in Southeast Alabama.

The Color Guard is made up of a group of cadets who escort the flags (National colors) during sporting events, parades, competitions, and other various activities. The DHS Color Guard has been requested to present the flag numerous times by other high schools for their social events. The Color Guard has won 2nd place at the War Eagle competition in 2007 and 3rd at the AUSA competition in 2007 and is also crucial to success at drill meets such as the National Guard Challenge. In 2014, the Color Guard won 1st place in the National Guard Challenge.

Daleville High School JROTC teaches moral values and integrity in all that we do. This is reflected in the respect and responsibility demonstrated by the cadets that are produced from the program. Our graduates have been appointed to the United States Military Academy, Air Force Academy, Naval Academy and many have received full Senior ROTC college scholarships. The JROTC program is demanding, but our cadets take the challenge willingly so that they may feel the exhilaration of victory.
